The Pollack family business began in 1937 in San Jose, California. That's where Sidney Gambord, Michael Pollack's grandfather, decided to enter the real estate development business.

In 1942, Pollack's father, Robert, entered the real estate business and focused on industrial and multifamily projects. Like Gambord, success soon followed the elder Pollack and in 1964, the two men decided to join their talents with the establishment of Pollack & Gambord Development Company.

During the 1960s and into the early 1970s, Pollack & Gambord built a reputation in the industry for developing high quality multifamily units in the San Francisco Bay Area and, by 1972, was one of the premier developers in the area.
In 1973, Michael A. Pollack, still in his teens, entered the real estate business building single family homes. In his early 20's Michael earned his General Contractors License and began designing, building and renovating several multi-family and industrial projects in California and Texas.

By 1980, Michael shifted his interest from new construction to the world of redevelopment, and to date has been involved in either refurbishing existing or constructing more than 5,000 apartment units and more than 100 commercial projects totaling in excess of 10,000,000 square feet.

Pollack’s entrance into Arizona occurred in 1991 with the purchase of a 23,623 square-foot shopping center that was ninety percent vacant. Within months, suites began to lease up and the occupancy rate climbed to more than ninety percent. Today, Michael A. Pollack Real Estate Investments and its affiliated entities are one of Arizona's largest privately held shopping center owners and operators.

Michael is sometimes best known for his quick deal-making, which often takes place on a Prevost touring bus outfitted with the latest communications and computer equipment. Michael enjoys the flexibility of conducting business directly from a site's parking lot. Since decisions do not require board approval, the company is able to quickly move from letter of intent to signature in a matter of hours, not days - a luxury many of his real estate competitors do not have.

The company headquarters are located in Mesa, Arizona and feature over 31,000 square feet of state-of-the-art offices.
